Fans have reacted on social media to the reported removal of Tyrrell Hatton from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL. The English golfer has reportedly joined LIV Golf, financially backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, in a $63 million deal.

Hatton’s defection will result in a ban from the PGA Tour, and since TGL is exclusive to Tour players, the golfer will not be allowed to participate in the entertainment series.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), golf analyst Daniel Rapaport stated that Hatton had been removed from TGL amidst rumors of him joining LIV Golf.

NUCLR Golf also posted the news on its X account.

“#BOSTON BUMMER — Tyrrell Hatton is OUT of Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy’s @TGL simulator league, per @Daniel_Rapaport. Players must be PGA Tour members in good standing to compete.@commongolf,” they captioned the post.Fans jumped to the comments section to have their say. One user commented:

“Both leagues are a joke. Guess he could only do one.”

“You mean the thing that doesn’t exist yet?” a fan wrote.

“TGL seems so stupid to me and I’m probably their number 1 demo. Get this frog logo and Boston common name out of here. Who the hell thought either was a good idea?,” another fan chimed in.

Tyrrell Hatton to join Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII – Reports

According to a recent report by The Telegraph, Tyrrell Hatton has joined LIV Golf and will tee off at this week’s Mayakoba event, starting February 2. Hatton has reportedly joined Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII on the Saudi circuit.

The aforementioned report also claimed that Hatton was initially not interested in joining LIV but changed his mind after Rahm called him.

Jon Rahm was also slated to compete in Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’s TGL series but withdrew, citing time constraints. Not long after, Rahm announced his move to LIV Golf.

The inaugural season of TGL was supposed to start in January 2024 but was postponed due to a dome collapse at its host venue. The series is likely to kick off in early 2025.

Hatton has not yet confirmed his move to LIV but will likely make an announcement on Friday, February 2, ahead of the commencement of the Mayakoba event.

In addition to Hatton, Adrian Meronk, Anthony Kim, and Lucas Herbert are also said to be joining LIV Golf. Herbert has reportedly joined Ripper GC, and Meronk is rumored to be vying for Martin Kaymer’s Cleek GC.

Seventeen years ago it was Western North Carolina’s biggest golf story. Buncombe County would be home to the first Tiger Woods-designed golf course in America. But when the real estate market tanked and the venture was hit with other problems, the project failed.

In 2017, the property went up for auction after not selling for $20 million, but it also didn’t sell at auction. Broker Billy May, with Keller Williams, said South Carolina investors bought the 840 acres for $15.5 million in 2019.

Now, 550 acres are up for sale and the focus is on finding deep-pocketed buyers who’d be motivated by the idea of tax breaks from having large tracts placed in conservancies.

“Either a family compound or a collection of families coming together to build very private houses,” said Collin O’Berry, co-listing agent with May. “We’re counting on somebody liking the location and wanting the privacy.”

“This tract of land is a large contiguous tract in the Swannanoa River mountains,” said Michelle Pugliese, land protection director for the nonprofit Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy. “Southern Appalachians Highlands is aware of it, because we have done strategic planning and we know of large tracts that are out there. We would love to purchase and own it as a nature preserve and not see any subdivision on that tract of land if possible.”

But O’Berry and May don’t have any interest in that at this point since it would mean the property would sell for significantly less than the $19 million for which it’s listed.

“There’s direct prospecting to high net worth individuals and other brokers across the country who represent high net worth individuals,” O’Berry said.

The property has been on the market 20 days.

The “disrespecting“ allegations that the Scottish locals had put did not stop Tiger Woods! The golfer and his business partner, Justin Timberlake are taking one step toward the proposed plan for the New Picture House. The cinema is a heritage site for St. Andrew’s locals and when the idea of converting the cinema to a sports gastropub was put forth, thousands of locals signed a petition against it.

That petition has reached more than 11,000 signatures as of now. However, despite the backlash, Woods and Timberlake’s T-Squared Social may see the light in the future, as the plans for the project are being directed toward it.

Tiger Woods’s venture got a green signal in St. Andrew

St Andrews’s locals were enraged at the 15x major champion’s plan to take a part of their noble history.  When the news broke out about the proposed plan, the locals found the plan of the renovation a “disservice to our rich heritage.”  Despite the petition by locals, the managing director of the cinema, David Morris, was in favor of the new pub, and by the looks of it, the plans are coming through!

As per reports by Scotsman, the cinema is working at “10% capacity” and will be closing soon. The statement released by Orbit Communications on behalf of Nexus Luxury Collection, of which Woods and Justin Timberlake are shareholders, reads that the cinema is “no longer viable. Without a serious and timely intervention, a cinematic offering will be lost to the town.”

The T-Squared Social is said to be a ray of hope for the dying legacy of the cinema. The statement also assured that the project team is “currently working towards the delivery of a planning application.” But in the meantime, it will inform the community about all the details. Despite the rebellion faced by the locals, Woods’s plan for St. Andrews would still become a reality.

Tiger Woods

The recent stance of the managing organization of the New House Cinema had enraged the local community more. The online petition is gaining traction and people are finding it a threat to the locals and “deeply alarming.” However, Woods’s idea was motivated by his love for St. Andrews and was not meant to hurt the locals.

Tiger Woods shares the origin story of a sports pub in St. Andrews

Tiger Woods revealed over a round of golf at Albany, Bahamas that he and Justin Timberlake decided that they wanted to bring their favorite things together in St. Andrews. Woods last played at St. Andrews in 2022 and reflected that it would be his last major there. Woods might have expected that he would never return to the place but as the plan of T-Squared Social, his name still be echoed in the town. Talking about his rationale behind the pub idea, he said, “I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many special moments here at St. Andrews.”

The 15x major champ wanted to build something that would “add to the local community and be a welcoming place for those living there and for visitors.” Despite the rebellion shown by the locals, Woods had the best at heart. The gastro pub would complete the full planning around this year. The local may board the plan till then.

The double loss at the Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup in 2023 left the American golf fans heartbroken. For the Ryder Cup, many people blamed it was the captaincy that played an integral role in the team’s defeat. With the target to redeem in the upcoming editions of these events, Team America seems to be in dire need of a new skipper. With Tiger Woods back on the golf scene, who could be the better man to do it, right?

The golf world suggested that the 48-year-old should take over the leadership of the 2025 Ryder Cup and hopefully lead the USA to victory in 2025. But what makes the 15x major champion a popular choice for the team captain? Lucas Glover, his 2009 President’s Cup compatriot, recently spilled the beans on why the 15-time Major winner is a good fit for the role.

Tiger Woods’s attitude makes him a suitable candidate for captaincy at Bethpage

A good leader’s direction goes a long way in influencing the result of a game. Tiger Woods is a strong pick not just because of his embellished track record but also for his gleaming confidence.

Siding with all those favoring Woods taking charge of America’s golf pride, the 2009 U.S. Open winner cited his confidence and go-getter attitude as reasons why he should be holding the position of power. But why does Glover think the 48-year-old is a good fit? Well, the answer lies in the insight-filled pages of history.

Remembering a conversation between Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker back in 2009, Lucas Glover said, “I just remember [Tiger Woods] and Steve Stricker talking about being foursome partners. They were discussing who would tee off, what holes, and all that. Tiger simply said, «Strick, I don’t care. Just hit it in the fairway for me, and we’ll win». Confidence from arguably the greatest iron player ever.”

Tiger Woods

Surely, the confidence as well as the prowess that Woods carries makes him one of the strongest options there is, and the current world no. 31 agrees. But would Glover himself want to be a part of Woods’s team?

What are Glover’s intentions for the 2025 Ryder Cup?

After giving a much-needed insider’s scoop on the idea of Woods heading Team USA, Glover was also asked whether he would play for his team if given a chance. Interestingly, his answer won many hearts.

On the topic of whether he would want to play for his country in Bethpage for the upcoming Ryder Cup, Glover said, “Of course, I’d love to play in 2025 at Bethpage, if possible. If not, I’d like to be there in some capacity, representing our country.”

His determination and readiness to help his homeland are truly inspiring. What do you think about the prospect of Tiger Woods becoming the captain in the upcoming Ryder Cup edition?

After Tiger Woods parted ways with Nike earlier this year, it is quite normal to assume that he will feature a new apparel brand in the next tournament he plays in. On Friday, some golf-related Twitter handles predicted what Woods’ new line of clothing might look like.

The accounts further speculated that Woods’ equipment partner, TaylorMade, will launch a brand called Sunday Red, which will sponsor the golf legend’s clothing line. But still, there’s no news from TaylorMade regarding whether they’ll launch their brand or go for a collaboration.

NEWS:-Tiger Woods describes Charlie Woods’ development as duo prepare for latest PNC Championship appearance

Something that’s striking to notice is that the brand’s name carries the color code ‘red’ and red is Woods color! But why does he love the color?

Why Tiger Woods Loves Wearing Red

Tiger Woods was mostly seen wearing red on Sundays. This has been his staple color in his pro days and during Stanford. Moreover, he believes it’s a powerful color that impacts the audience. According to science, the color has the maximum wavelength and hence, it makes somebody more noticeable.

Woods discussed in a past interview that even his mother insisted that he wear red on the final days of tournaments. Even he believed this superstition for a long time.

“I just stuck with it out of superstition, and it worked. I just happened to choose a school that actually was red, and we wore red on our final day of events. So it worked out.”

Added to that, people in his native place also wear red on Sundays, so probably it is their lucky color.

For 27 years, Woods wore Nike’s red polos on Sunday before announcing his departure. Woods’ message towards Nike on Instagram carried an indication. He mentioned “another chapter” and that too in Los Angeles, where the Genesis Invitational takes place every year.

What beholds for Tiger Woods’ future regarding his new partnership is still unknown, but one can be sure that it will be a legendary one as anything that Tiger touches, turns to gold!

Perhaps more anticipated than Tiger Woods’ expected return at the Genesis Invitational is what the tournament host will be wearing.

Woods announced earlier this month that he and Nike had ended their 27-year relationship. What Woods didn’t express in his X post, however, was what logo he’d be sporting on his hat, shirt and pants when he plays again.

It might be a brand with which Woods is already familiar.

Woods has been using TaylorMade equipment since 2017 and it was brought to public attention this past week that the manufacturer had filed multiple trademarks for a “Sunday Red” brand.

Three trademarks have been registered through the United States Patent and Trademark Office by TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures LLC: a leaping Tiger outline, “Sunday Red” spelled in all caps, and “SDR” around the leaping Tiger. The live patent applications (meaning they are awaiting examination) include, “clothing, namely shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, sweatshirts, sweatpants, joggers, skirts, dresses, hoodies, sports jackets, polos, golf shirts, golf pants, footwear and headwear.”

Whether he’s competing in the tournament or just playing host in a few weeks, all eyes will be on what Woods is wearing.

Phil Mickelson’s worst critic once again drags the LIV golf pros through the mud. Brandel Chamblee, who has repeatedly criticized the LIV Golfers for their decisions, tweeted that the jump to the Saudi-backed side has come at their own cost. It’s their legacy they have tainted and, in some cases, let go of.

Chamblee questioned, “Are they as hungry?”, “Are they as tuned into the pulse of the core golfer, that BTW pays for the game and their salaries at least here in America?” The answer, according to the veteran broadcaster, was a big no. Chamblee also doesn’t think that golf will benefit in any way from this. Blasting the claims of ‘growing the game,’ the 61-year-old analyst wrote, “Will the game benefit from their decisions to go to LIV? Not a chance.

Upping the ante further, Chamblee claimed that it only benefits “The Saudis. MBS (Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Saudi Crown Prince). Yassir (Yasir Al-Rumayyan, PIF Chairman). Top 30 players in the world.” The veteran Golf Channel analyst has time and again raked the LIV Golfers over the coals for ‘selling out’ to the breakaway side.

Phil Mickelson, being the face of the breakaway side and also the recruiter, quickly drew the ire of the veteran analyst. Since Mickelson joined the Saudi-backed side, Chamblee and the Lefty have been in a verbal spat that has led to blocking each other on X (formerly Twitter.) Notably, the six-time Major winner spared no words in lambasting Brandel Chamblee after he responded to the “paid actor” jab by Brooks Koepka’s coach with a lengthy tweet.

Chamblee once again disputed Mickelson’s claims that more PGA Tour pros are in line to join the breakaway side. In fact, the former professional golfer went to the length of saying that Jon Rahm “sold his career” to the PIF-funded league in a Golf Central interview. This time, however, the analyst was responding to Webb Simpson’s recent comments.

Webb Simpson feels sad for Dustin Johnson

The PGA Tour pro from La Quinta said that although Dustin Johnson is his buddy, he is still “a little sad” for the 39-year-old. “I love Dustin (Johnson), he’s a buddy of mine, but he had the opportunity to go down as one of the top 10 greatest players ever, and as soon as he signed his name to LIV – he still could be, but in the record books, we’ll never know. It’s not going to count.” The “young guys” think differently about Johnson after his LIV Golf switch, Simpson confessed.

The PGA Tour’s pro comment stands out, as Rory McIlroy and others seem to soften their stance towards the breakaway league. Interestingly, Brandel Chamblee, too, said that it’s in the best interest of the game that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf come together. In case that made you think the veteran also went soft on the breakaway league, he hasn’t. Not a chance.

Webb Simpson flashed some of the golf skills we’ve come to expect from him through the years on Thursday with an opening 65 at the Sony Open. But before that, it was his writing skills that he’s been putting to more use lately.

After a couple down seasons on the PGA Tour, the 2012 U.S. Open champ finds himself in a position he hasn’t been in since he turned pro—asking tournament directors for sponsor’s exemptions into events.

“Been a long time. 2008. Right when I turned pro,” Simpson said on Thursday of writing those letters. “I got five spots that summer. So I kind of remembered how do it. My letter this time was a lot better than last time. For sure.”

Simpson’s playing schedule is still very much a work in progress. But at least one of those letters got him into next month’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is one of the PGA Tour’s signature events in 2024 with a $20 million purse and no cut.

“Very up in the air,” Simpson said of his schedule. “The only big tournament I’m definitely in is The Players. I’ve got one more year. AT&T and was kind enough to give me a spot, so I get that elevated. That’s my next one. It’ll be totally up in the air.”

One tournament host he won’t be writing to, however, is Tiger Woods. But the seven-time PGA Tour winner has a great reason for not attempting to tee it up at the Genesis Invitational next month.

“Funny you mentioned his,” Simpson said after being asked about the Genesis Invitational. “His is the only one I didn’t write a letter to because it’s my son’s birthday that week. I’ve told him before I hate missing it because I do love Riv and supporting him, but I’m not going. Yeah, I written letters to everybody.”

Good luck getting good responses, Webb. And remember to always use spell check.

Patrick Cantlay reveals how a trip to Tiger Woods’ basement after he’d won PGA Tour Player of the Year left him feeling VERY humble

  • Cantlay said one look at Tiger’s trophy cabinet was a humbling experience
  • This comes after Scottie Scheffler was named PGA Tour Player of the Year
  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

While Patrick Cantlay is already a very accomplished golfer, he got a reminder that he still has a ways to go before being considered the best.

In the aftermath of Scottie Scheffler being named PGA Tour player of the year by his fellow golfers, Cantlay was asked by media about how pros prioritize things such as wins, top finishes and scoring average.

Cantlay began to give his answer, saying, ‘Well I think it comes down to the individual’ before diving into a story about a visit to the house of Tiger Woods.

‘I went over to Tiger’s house, I think to talk Ryder Cup after I had won Player of the Year, and it felt like a big deal to me at the time that I had got a Player of the Year, and they give you this little Jack Nicklaus bronze trophy,’ he explained per Golf Magazine.

‘So we’re walking through Tiger’s house and we’re in the basement and he’s got like, 11 of ’em lined up right next to each other all in the corner of the basement — boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

And I go, “Hey, I’m catching up,” and he looked at me and he goes, “You got a lot of work to do.”‘

 Tiger Woods

Woods won the award in all but two years between 1999-2009 – losing out to Vijay Singh (2004) and Padraig Harrington (2008).

Cantlay has won eight times on the PGA – including the 2021 Tour Championship, which granted him the FedExCup.

He’s also been a part of the 2021 and 2023 Ryder Cup teams as well as the 2019 and 2022 Presidents Cup teams.

Cantlay was also asked about if he would ever leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, but the California native says he doesn’t imagine leaving the Tour.

‘It’s a personal calculation based on your values, your priorities, et cetera,’ Cantlay told Golf Magazine.

‘So I don’t think it’s a surprise that there’s a certain type of player that’s tended to go over there, on the whole. For me? I have no plans on joining LIV. I don’t plan on joining LIV. I see myself playing on the PGA Tour.’

‘I declined offers,’ Cantlay said. ‘Pre and post joining the board. And the most recent offer I got, I declined in the same meeting that my management team brought it to me.’

Jordan Spieth spent a lot of time after the 2023 Ryder Cup recuperating his ulnar nerve injury, which affected his forearm, hand, and fingers.

He did not swing a club for a while throughout the fall, but he circled the first weekend of December as a target to return to tournament play.

His target: the Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods in the Bahamas.

Spieth fared decently well there, finishing in sixth in the 20-man field. But being in contention in the Bahamas has allowed him to parlay that success to this week’s event in Maui.

“Tiger’s event was big for me, just to get out there and into contention,” Spieth said after his third round at The Sentry Saturday.

“Coming here and picking up where I left off there is really nice.”

Spieth carded a bogey-free 6-under 67 on Saturday to soar up the leaderboard. He now sits two strokes behind Chris Kirk, at 19-under, and only Akshay Bhatia sits between Spieth and the lead.

Consequently, the former world number one knows he must go low to win for the first time since the 2022 RBC Heritage.

“I just assume I have to shoot 6-under [or more],” Spieth said. “It’s just crazy how the scoring is.”

The Plantation Course at Kapalua yields plenty of birdies. It also provides great entertainment for fans to kick off each calendar year. Spieth knows that, too.

“Honestly, it’s just more fun. You have to play more shots,” he said.

“The holes show a little teeth. You can run out 400 yards through fairways, so you still hit the driver, but you have to hit a different shot [with it] to make it go shorter. It’s very odd; it’s an odd scenario, one that you only experience here.”

Tiger Woods

The elevation changes on this seaside Maui course are unbelievable. From the highest point on the 17th green to the lowest point of the property on the 8th green, a nearly 500-foot change in elevation exists.

That allows the players to hit nearly 500-yard drives thanks to the plentiful downhill par-4s. But that does not necessarily mean the course determines who is playing the best.

“Some guys probably are on top of their game, and they just don’t quite make enough birdies or get the right breaks here,” Spieth added.

“Some guys are scoring well but have much work to do. Sometimes, Kapalua can be that way, at least for a few rounds, but typically, it starts to show itself throughout an entire tournament. I’m sure some guys shot 4-under and felt like they played great and guys who shot 6-under and maybe felt a little off, like myself. That’s not always fair, but that’s the game.”

Golf is indeed a funny game, but Spieth is glad to have contended in the Bahamas before this week’s event in Maui. Before the Hero World Challenge, Spieth had just one top-10 finish since the U.S. Open in June—a tie for 6th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Nevertheless, his late-season downturn is in the rearview mirror.

Now, Spieth is delighted that his ulnar nerve injury is not bothering him anymore—so much so that he has not even thought about it all week.

However, he continues to do physical therapy to ensure that he is stronger than ever in 2024. Three-to-four times a week in fact.

But that is all a part of his strategic recuperation process. That, coupled with his recent experience in the Bahamas, could help him get to the top in Maui.

That would be quite the way to start the new year for the three-time major champion.
