“Survive Two Rounds And He Wins” Derek Chisora Predicts Anthony Joshua-Daniel Dubois

Anthony Joshua boxes in Wembley Stadium once more this September and his opponent looks likely to be 26-year-old Daniel Dubois.

The Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time world champion is on a run of four victories since losing his unified titles to Oleksandr Usyk, who now holds all four belts after also beating Tyson Fury.

Joshua may be given a lifeline in the form of the IBF strap, which may go vacant given Usyk won’t be facing mandatory challenger Dubois since he has a rematch with Fury.

That makes an ‘AJ’-‘DDD’ bout for the belt a potential.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, heavyweight stalwart Derek Chisora gave his opinion on the fight, speaking as fighter who is both friends with Joshua and backed by his company, 258 Management.

“The problem right now with Daniel is he going so much confidence by stopping Jarrell Miller, stopping Hrgovic, so he’s gonna go in the with so much confidence, arrive at Wembley with so much confidence.

What we have to do at 258 is shut his confidence down in the first two rounds. We can’t warm up with him and try and do anything, we have to just close his confidence down quick because if he gets momentum he’ll win the fight.”

Joshua and team have a press conference scheduled for June 26 to confirm and officially announce the Wembley show. Whilst Dubois is a clear frontrunner to fill the opposite corner, promoter Eddie Hearn hasn’t ruled out the likes of Zhilei Zhang or Joseph Parker.

I’ve fought Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury but the hardest punch came like a ‘baseball bat’ from ‘WAR’

Oleksandr Usyk has stepped in with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, but neither gave him his heaviest knock.

Usyk is the current reigning undisputed heavyweight champion after making history with a decision win over Fury in Saudi Arabia.

It was a monumental achievement to hand Fury his first defeat, and adds on to his back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua in 2021 and 2022.

The Ukrainian has also been in with two other Britons in the shape of Daniel Dubois and Derek Chisora, but he believes the latter packed the most power he has faced.

Usyk responded on the Three Knockdown Rule podcast when asked who was his toughest and hardest hitting opponent: “Toughest fight – yes it was [Fury].

“Biggest punch – no. Because Derek Chisora, very tough guy.

“[One punch landed] on the gloves and I said, ‘Oh my God.’ Like a baseball bat.”

Chisora was Usyk’s second test in the blue-riband division, after he stepped up and vacated his status as undisputed champion at cruiserweight.

‘WAR’ put up a brave fight against Usyk, and even looked on top in earlier parts of the fight, using his relentless work rate and body shots to rough up the champion.

This outing led to many doubts over the Ukrainian’s size at heavyweight, but those concerns have been proven complete fiction.

He has become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, and has dismantled some elite fighters in the process.

But it is expected he will be stripped of his IBF belt before that date, despite filing an ‘exemption’ to the rule through his team.

Usyk did find himself under the pressure in the sixth round of their maiden encounter, after Fury landed a huge uppercut.

He was able to reverse momentum, but has now admitted it was a moment of real adversity.

“I feel for maybe ten seconds and say, ‘Hey God, thank you, help me.’ I say to myself, ‘Move. Move because if you stop he’ll kill you.’

“I respect Fury because he’s a great fighter, great man, very smart. What Tyson does, ‘Blah, blah, blah.’

“A lot of people say he’s a clown. It’s playing. Not me, but maybe a different opponent who doesn’t have tunnel vision.”

Oleksandr Usyk Names The Heavyweight Who Hit Harder Than Both Tyson Fury And Anthony Joshua

Oleksandr Usyk

Is undisputed heavyweight champion after just six fights in the division and has taken some hard shots to get there.

Formerly four-belt ruler at cruiserweight, the Ukrainian master moved up and found his feet with a stoppage win over Chazz Witherspoon. He moved into a points victory over Derek Chisora – a fight in which the Brit pushed him hard over twelve – before beating Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision to become unified champion.

The ‘AJ’ rematch went largely the same way but ended in a closer split decision. Usyk made his second title defence against 26-year-old Daniel Dubois, whom he stopped in ninth following a low-blow controversy which many felt should have given Dubois the win.

Enter Tyson Fury, who was having great success with uppercuts in the middle rounds before Usyk fought like only he can and scored a knockdown in the ninth. He would win a split decision to add the fourth and final belt to his collection, cementing his name in the heavyweight history books.

Speaking on the 3 Knockdown Rule podcast, the champ said that Fury gave him his toughest test to date, but name-checked Chisora as the hardest puncher.

“Listen, I have respect for Tyson Fury. A fighter, a great man, but my opponent. Very hard man. Very smart … [Hardest fight] I think yes. Punch? I think no. Derek Chisora. Very tough guy. Derek – right hand, left hand, I’d like block… ‘Oh my God! Oh move Alex, this is dangerous.’”

Chisora swarmed the Ukrainian with winging hooks, taking any contact he could get. As the rounds went on, Usyk’s movement tired the Brit and he looked close to being stopped himself towards the end of the fight.
