“He Took 5 Years Off My Life” World Champion Who Got KOd By Canelo Warns Crawford

Terence Crawford has set his sights firmly on a fight against super-middleweight undisputed champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – but one former opponent has warned him about the ‘dangers’ of facing the Mexican.

Crawford last fought at welterweight, dominating and stopping fierce rival Errol Spence Jr, and will have to move up three weight divisions and 21lbs from there if he is to face Canelo.

One man who fought both and moved up two divisions to take on Canelo was former super-lightweight world champion, Amir Khan.

Khan faced Canelo for the WBC middleweight title in 2016 and, after a promising start, was knocked out cold by the naturally bigger man in the sixth round.

Speaking to Fastest Payout Online Casinos about a potential fight between the two pound-for-pound stars, Khan warned ‘Bud’ that he was never the same after fighting Canelo.

“It’s a very dangerous fight for Crawford, you’re only one punch away from getting hurt, Canelo’s power is always going to be there. Crawford has earned good money, he has a beautiful family, why risk it? You’re only one punch away from getting hurt, and he doesn’t really need the money or the fame. He’s pound for pound the best fighter in the world.

I was never the same fighter again facing Canelo. You can get knocked down, fine, you can get back up again, but the knockout Canelo gave me, it probably took five years off my life.

I was at the peak of my career and never came back as the same fighter again. I wasn’t gun shy or scared, but that one shot, it wasn’t good for the body or the mind. And it changed my opponent’s strategy for fighting me, they all started to try to land that one big shot.”

Khan went on to challenge Crawford for his WBO welterweight title in 2019 but suffered the same fate once again, losing the fight by sixth round stoppage.

Crawford is back in the ring on August 3 when he moves one weight class up to challenge Israil Madrimov for his WBA super-welterweight title.

He’s chasing greatness, so why not? Spence believes Crawford has what it takes to defeat Canelo

Errol Spence Jr. has been out of the limelight after falling Terence Crawford for the undisputed welterweight title in what was a lopsided fight.

However, he resurfaced over the weekend as a promoter rather than a fighter. That’s because he was backing Frank Martin, who came up short in his fight with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis after suffering an eighth-round knockout loss.

However, Spence was an open book in the build-up to the right, answering questions about Crawford and whether he thinks he would stand a chance against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

“If Crawford wants to challenge himself to be great, let him try to be great,” Spence said.

“I’m with it. I’d be going for Bud if he fights Canelo. I don’t know if he’d win or lose, but if anybody can pull it off, he can pull it off. He’s chasing greatness, so why not?

Canelo came up to 175 and fought [Sergey] Kovalev and the other guy [Dmitrii Bivol], too. If he can do it, and he started at 147, why can’t Crawford do it?”

Crawford keen to fight Canelo

While Crawford is open to fighting Alvarez, the same can’t be said about Canelo, who seems to have changed his mind after previously stating he would be.

Nevertheless, Turki Alalshikh is reportedly keen to get the two men into the ring.

Crawford is set to make his 154-pound but against WBA titleholder Israil Madrimov on August 3, a division Spence is also moving into.

Spence will face super-welterweight titleholder Sebastian Fundora in either October or November.

Spence with lots to think about

While Spence is set to get back into the ring, it appears he has a lot to think about outside of it as well.

He and his long-time trainer Derrick James are suing each other, and the 34-year-old also hinted that retirement may be near.

“I ain’t firm on it, but I can go out the door anytime,” said Spence.

“He’s Different” Oleksandr Usyk Has No Doubt Who Wins Canelo-Crawford Fight

Talk of a super fight between Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez refuses to go away. Fellow pound-for-pound talent Oleksandr Usyk has predicted what he thinks would happen should the two ever meet in the ring.

Former two-weight undisputed champion Crawford and current undisputed super middleweight king Canelo are two of the very best in the sport, which is why boxing fans are so keen to see them come together in the ring.

The weight difference between the two is one issue which makes the fight hard to envisage, but it is still a match-up that the influential chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has stated he is keen to make.

First up, Crawford is making the move up to 154lbs to fight WBA super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3 and will need to come through that before any Canelo talk gains real momentum.

Speaking to The 3 Knockdown Rule, Usyk was asked how he saw the Canelo fight going should it happen thereafter.

“I like Terence. He’s a crazy man.

Terrence win. Listen, Terrence is different man. Terrence works on two sides. Right and left, he’s very smart man. He feels distance and space.”

Usyk was then asked if weight might be a problem for Crawford but, for a man who has conquered the heavyweight division against naturally bigger men, his answer may not come as a surprise.

“Canelo big, yeah, good boxer, but I say, Terence. Terence can box him like a big guy.”

With his prediction Oleksandr Usyk ‘humiliates’ Canelo Alvarez again against Terence Crawford

the undisputed heavyweight champion, has thrown his support behind Terence Crawford in a highly anticipated potential bout against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which could take place at the end of this year or in early 2025.

In a conversation with 3KRPodcast, Usyk highlighted Crawford‘s bold move to jump up three weight classes to challenge Canelo, but also pointed out Crawford‘s exceptional intelligence and versatility in the ring

“Terence is my friend, but he’s a crazy man,” Usyk said.

“I say Terence wins. Listen, Terence is a different man. Terence works in two stances, he’s a very, very, very smart man.”

Turki Alalshikh has been working diligently to finalize the clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. The plan is to stage the fight in the United States either late this year or at the beginning of 2025, aiming to deliver the high-stakes matchups that boxing fans crave. Canelo has indicated he would consider the fight if the financial terms are right.

While some boxing pundits believe Crawford will face significant challenges due to the weight class jump, others argue that his technical skills and ring IQ could enable him to overcome Canelo, even on the Mexican’s home turf.

After his win over Errol Spence Jr., Crawford expressed his ambition to fight Canelo for the undisputed super middleweight title.

Their upcoming fights

Initially, Canelo dismissed the idea, particularly following his victory over Jermell Charlo, stating on TV Azteca’s ‘En Caliente’ that Crawford wasn’t on his radar. However, Canelo has since indicated that if the financial incentives from Saudi Arabia are substantial, he would entertain the challenge.

Currently, Canelo is deliberating on his next opponent for a September bout, following his win against Jaime Munguia. He might have to vacate the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, as he is mandated to fight official challenger William Scull, a fight he is not keen on.

On the other hand, Terence Crawford has his next fight lined up. He will headline a major event on August 3 in Los Angeles, aiming for his fourth title in a different division against Israil Madrimov, the reigning WBA 154-pound champion.

“He’ll Knock Him Out” James Toney Has No Doubt Who Wins Canelo-Crawford

The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has made it clear that he wants to see a super fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford and hall of fame inductee, James Toney, has predicted a clear knockout victory for one man.

Ever since defeating Errol Spence Jr during their undisputed welterweight showdown last July, Crawford has been linked with fellow pound-for-pound star Alvarez. The talk only intensified when Turki Alalshikh said it was on his boxing wish list and confirmed he would like to make the fight in December this year or January of 2025.

Before any deal can be struck for what would be a mouth-watering match-up, unbeaten and former two-weight undisputed champion Crawford must first come through his maiden outing up at 154 lbs. It comes in Las Vegas against WBA super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3.

Ahead of the potential contest, former multi-weight champion Toney told ESNEWS that Crawford beats Canelo by KO.

This was put to retired fighter turned pundit Timothy Bradley who agreed and then some.

“Crawford beats anybody he steps in the ring with. Anybody. No one beats him. No one beats him.”

Canelo’s last outing saw him prove he is still one of the best in the sport when he defended all four of his super middleweight titles against countryman Jaime Munguia in early May, but that hasn’t stopped his former promoter Oscar De La Hoya alsi siding with Crawford.

Like the rest of us, Canelo Alvarez was interested in seeing how Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. would play out. With the two finally squaring off on July 29th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Alvarez grabbed himself some popcorn, purchased the pay-per-view, and watched every second of every round. Before they officially got it on, the pound-for-pound star believed that, despite Spence being a great fighter in his own right, that Crawford simply had too many tools in his toolbox. He was right. First round aside, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) dominated the action, scoring three knockdowns before violently finishing the former unified welterweight champ in the ninth. Many have given soliloquies as to why the Omaha, Nebraska, native did what he did. Alvarez though, won’t pontificate long windily. Instead, he gave a short and sweet answer when addressing Crawford’s performance.

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez

“Crawford was the best man that night,” Alvarez told BoxingScene.com.

Nowa beltless, Spence is now trying to make sense of what took place. But before he dives into the film room and attempts to fix his mistakes, he already revealed that he and Crawford have to do it again.

Although their rematch appears to be on the brink of becoming official, Spence is hopeful that Crawford will give him a break of sorts and agree to face him at 154 pounds. Crawford, to his credit, did acknowledge that he’s open to the idea of abandoning the 147-pound landscape and invading the junior middleweight division.

By and large, Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) is banking on the extra seven pounds doing his body justice in the ring, leading to a much better performance. Alvarez, on the other hand, believes that Spence is holding onto false hope. Whether their showdown happens at 147, 154, or even 175 pounds, the Mexican star simply isn’t convinced that Spence has what it takes to change the outcome.

“If they fight again it’s gonna be the same thing. He’s a better fighter.”
