Heavyweight Who Sparred Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois And Joe Joyce Names Hardest Puncher

Daniel Dubois has proven time and again, even in defeat, that he packs a serious punch – but is it the heaviest in the division?

The 26-year-old recently beat Filip Hrgovic to become the IBF Interim Champion, meaning a series of events could lead to him facing Anthony Joshua for the full title at Wembley Stadium this September.

It would be Dubois’ second shot at world honours following a stoppage loss to Oleksandr Usyk last year, after which some in the sport questioned his heart and grit.

Speaking to Title Sports Network, fan-favourite heavyweight prospect Johnny Fisher praised Dubois’ performance after being in camp with an ‘amazing’ Hrgovic.

“I was obviously sparring Filip when he [was preparing] for Dubois. He looked amazing during camp – one of the best I’ve ever sparred. It just didn’t click on the night, probably due to Daniel Dubois being so good as well.

You can see the improvements in his game. He’s moving his head nicely, throwing flurries. He got his with so many shots by Hrgovic in the first, second round and just kept coming forward. Huge credit.”

Fisher – who faces Alen Babic on July 6 at the Copper Box in London – backed Joshua to win the fight should he and Dubois battle it out for the vacant IBF belt, but warned ‘AJ’ that the younger man hits extremely hard.

“It’s a great fight. I would favour Joshua in that fight. I think the wins he’s coming off and the form he’s in, and the way Hrgovic was catching with his right hand, I think Joshua’s right hand will do a bit more damage. But it’s a great fight. What a story, Daniel Dubois fighting for the world title again.

I think Joshua could maybe stop him, but this is why we love heavyweights. You don’t know what’s going to happen. And Dubois, trust me, he’s the hardest I’ve ever been punched by. Ever. He can seriously crack. You won’t want that on your chops.”

It’s high praise from the 25-year-old, who has sparred some of the best heavyweights in the world including former champion Tyson Fury and Olympian Joe Joyce.

“He’s Different” Oleksandr Usyk Has No Doubt Who Wins Canelo-Crawford Fight

Talk of a super fight between Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez refuses to go away. Fellow pound-for-pound talent Oleksandr Usyk has predicted what he thinks would happen should the two ever meet in the ring.

Former two-weight undisputed champion Crawford and current undisputed super middleweight king Canelo are two of the very best in the sport, which is why boxing fans are so keen to see them come together in the ring.

The weight difference between the two is one issue which makes the fight hard to envisage, but it is still a match-up that the influential chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority has stated he is keen to make.

First up, Crawford is making the move up to 154lbs to fight WBA super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3 and will need to come through that before any Canelo talk gains real momentum.

Speaking to The 3 Knockdown Rule, Usyk was asked how he saw the Canelo fight going should it happen thereafter.

“I like Terence. He’s a crazy man.

Terrence win. Listen, Terrence is different man. Terrence works on two sides. Right and left, he’s very smart man. He feels distance and space.”

Usyk was then asked if weight might be a problem for Crawford but, for a man who has conquered the heavyweight division against naturally bigger men, his answer may not come as a surprise.

“Canelo big, yeah, good boxer, but I say, Terence. Terence can box him like a big guy.”

After beating both” Usyk listed comparison between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Usyk has beaten Joshua twice and most recently handed Fury his first professional loss in their historic undisputed heavyweight world title clash

Oleksandr usyk as compared Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury after beating both of the Brits.

Usyk won the undisputed heavyweight world titles last month when he beat Fury in their historic fight. Their rematch was expected to take place in October but has since been pushed back to December 21. The Ukrainian has two wins over ‘AJ’ as he won the unified belts from the Brit in September 2021 and defended them in their rematch the following year.

Usyk gave a funny comparison when talking about his wins against Joshua and Fury as he told Three Knockdown Rule. “Anthony Joshua has classy boxing. Greedy Belly, my friend Tyson Fury. It’s like sparkling water, when you open it without shaking it’s good. If you shake it, it [blows]. Sparkling water is Tyson Fury and still water is Anthony Joshua. Tyson’s arms are like two metres, like a rope.”

Usyk admitted he doesn’t want to think about boxing at the moment after spending eight months preparing for Fury. Their fight was pushed back several times and cancelled on just days notice when Fury was cut above his eye in February. Usyk surprisingly snubbed Fury whilst revealing the hardest puncher he has ever faced.

“I would say toughest fight, yes, but I think biggest punch, no,” Usyk said of Fury.” When asked who hit him the hardest, Usyk replied: “Derek Chisora, very tough guy. With Derek, I don’t remember which hand if it was left or fight but I would block it and it would be like a baseball bat. It was very dangerous.

Usyk is expected to lose his undisputed status and be stripped of his IBF belt in the coming weeks so the title can be on the line for Joshua’s UK return in September. The Ukrainian’s manager disagrees with the governing body’s decision and wants to see all four belts on the line again for Usyk and Fury’s second fight.

I’ve fought Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury but the hardest punch came like a ‘baseball bat’ from ‘WAR’

Oleksandr Usyk has stepped in with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, but neither gave him his heaviest knock.

Usyk is the current reigning undisputed heavyweight champion after making history with a decision win over Fury in Saudi Arabia.

It was a monumental achievement to hand Fury his first defeat, and adds on to his back-to-back wins over Anthony Joshua in 2021 and 2022.

The Ukrainian has also been in with two other Britons in the shape of Daniel Dubois and Derek Chisora, but he believes the latter packed the most power he has faced.

Usyk responded on the Three Knockdown Rule podcast when asked who was his toughest and hardest hitting opponent: “Toughest fight – yes it was [Fury].

“Biggest punch – no. Because Derek Chisora, very tough guy.

“[One punch landed] on the gloves and I said, ‘Oh my God.’ Like a baseball bat.”

Chisora was Usyk’s second test in the blue-riband division, after he stepped up and vacated his status as undisputed champion at cruiserweight.

‘WAR’ put up a brave fight against Usyk, and even looked on top in earlier parts of the fight, using his relentless work rate and body shots to rough up the champion.

This outing led to many doubts over the Ukrainian’s size at heavyweight, but those concerns have been proven complete fiction.

He has become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999, and has dismantled some elite fighters in the process.

But it is expected he will be stripped of his IBF belt before that date, despite filing an ‘exemption’ to the rule through his team.

Usyk did find himself under the pressure in the sixth round of their maiden encounter, after Fury landed a huge uppercut.

He was able to reverse momentum, but has now admitted it was a moment of real adversity.

“I feel for maybe ten seconds and say, ‘Hey God, thank you, help me.’ I say to myself, ‘Move. Move because if you stop he’ll kill you.’

“I respect Fury because he’s a great fighter, great man, very smart. What Tyson does, ‘Blah, blah, blah.’

“A lot of people say he’s a clown. It’s playing. Not me, but maybe a different opponent who doesn’t have tunnel vision.”

Anthony Joshua has three potential opponents for next fight as Eddie Hearn provides update

Anthony Joshua returns to the ring on September 21 at Wembley Stadium, but it hasn’t been confirmed who that’ll be against.

Daniel Dubois is thought to be the frontrunner to box AJ next although Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn insists Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker are also in the running.

“Firstly, there is nothing agreed or confirmed for AJ in September,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“His Excellency (Turki Alalshikh) would like AJ to headline at Wembley.

“Obviously it would be incredible for us, for Riyadh Season and for British boxing.

“Who the opponent will be is undecided. You’ve got Zhilei Zhang which is a great fight.

“You’ve got Daniel Dubois, now the IBF interim heavyweight champion and you’ve got Joseph Parker who is on a great run.”

Joshua has already fought Parker in the paid ranks.

AJ defeated the Kiwi via unanimous decision in 2018 to unify the WBA ‘super’, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

However, big wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhang in his last two outings have seen Parker’s stock rise considerably.

Joshua has also bested Zhang, although that was in the amateurs, when they squared off in the 2012 Olympic quarter-finals.

But according to his promoter Frank Warren, there are plans for him to have a homecoming fight in China next.

Dubois is the only fighter out of the three Joshua hasn’t boxed and he looks to be the most appealing option.

Not only is he British, which will help shift tickets in London, but he is also now the IBF mandatory to Oleksandr Usyk after his career-best win over Filip Hrgovic.

“The aim for us is for AJ to become world heavyweight champion and if the IBF belt becomes available which we we expect it to, then there’s a chance of Dubois against AJ for the world heavyweight title,” Hearn added.

“That’s definitely a fight that appeals, but nothing agreed or confirmed yet…

“The only way AJ could fight for a world title at Wembley is with the IBF so if that’s the case I would say that is the frontrunner at the moment.”

On Terence Crawford Card American Knockout Artist To Face ‘Most Avoided Heavyweight’

Heavyweights Martin Bakole and Jared Anderson are the latest additions to Riyadh Season’s first card on US shores – headlined by Terence Crawford – after Tim Tszyu versus Vergil Ortiz Jr was cancelled.

Turki Alalshikh promised a big replacement and, in terms of power, he has delivered. Tszyu’s cut from the Sebastian Fundora fight turned out too bad to fight again so soon, meaning fans miss out on what was an excellent piece of matchmaking, at least for now.

To keep the hype high, the promotion has decided to step undefeated Anderson up against Bakole – the Congolese heavyweight fighting out of Scotland that his promoter and trainer claim is the most avoided in the division.

Bakole is coming off an impressive stoppage of heavyweight stalwart Carlos Takam in Saudi Arabia, and recently missed out on a fight with Joe Joyce. His record is lacking big names, something he believes is due to the beatings he puts on fighters in the gym being enough to convince them against a pro bout.

Anderson has been consistent in saying he wants to take on all comers. The 24-year-old has stopped fifteen in seventeen wins, but did show some vulnerabilities when he stepped up against former world champion Charles Martin.

Terence Crawford tops the bill in his debut at 154lbs challenging for Israil Madrimov’s WBA title and the vacant WBO. The card also features Isaac Cruz vs Jose Valenzuela for Cruz’s WBA super lightweight title, an intriguing heavyweight bout between Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller, David Morrell against Radivoje Kalajdzic and Cuban sensation Andy Cruz vs Antonio Moran.

Deontay Wilder replaced by ‘most avoided heavyweight’ on Terence Crawford undercard

Deontay Wilder will no longer be competing on the Israil Madrimov vs Terence Crawford undercard on August 3.

However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was knocked out in the fifth round by Zhang last weekend, spelling an end to Alalshikh’s plans.

It now seems highly likely that Wilder will hang up his gloves after admitting before the fight that defeat could spell the end of his career.

But one man’s loss is another man’s gain – and Martin Bakole has now been given the call to face Anderson instead.

The Congolese boxer has been steadily climbing up the heavyweight rankings after falling to defeat for the first and only time in his 21-fight (20-1) career against Michael Hunter in 2018.

Bakole recently recorded a career-best win against former world title challenger Carlos Takam in October.

However, he has struggled to land a big fight since.

He was in negotiations to face Joe Joyce next but according to his trainer and manager Billy Nelson, ‘The Juggernaut’ pulled out of the fight to pursue a domestic dust-up with Derek Chisora on July 27.

The difficulty of finding a fight for Bakole has led to his promoter Ben Shalom branding him ‘the most avoided heavyweight’ on the planet.

“Martin Bakole is the most avoided man in the glamour division and can beat every heavyweight on the planet on his day,” he wrote in his exclusive talkSPORT column.

“He has all of the physical attributes needed to reach the top of the sport.

“His stamina is excellent, he’s extremely strong and on top of all of that, he is a very good boxer.

“It’s only a matter of time before he will be dining at the top table with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.”

terence crawford

Anderson (17-0) is one of the most exciting young up-and-coming heavyweights in the world right now.

A number of media outlets have branded him ‘a heavyweight world champion in waiting’ while Tyson Fury – who has sparred with Anderson several times – is tipping him as the ‘heir to his throne’.

If Bakole can derail the hype train then he will find himself in a very strong position to challenge for world titles down the line.

With his prediction Oleksandr Usyk ‘humiliates’ Canelo Alvarez again against Terence Crawford

the undisputed heavyweight champion, has thrown his support behind Terence Crawford in a highly anticipated potential bout against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which could take place at the end of this year or in early 2025.

In a conversation with 3KRPodcast, Usyk highlighted Crawford‘s bold move to jump up three weight classes to challenge Canelo, but also pointed out Crawford‘s exceptional intelligence and versatility in the ring

“Terence is my friend, but he’s a crazy man,” Usyk said.

“I say Terence wins. Listen, Terence is a different man. Terence works in two stances, he’s a very, very, very smart man.”

Turki Alalshikh has been working diligently to finalize the clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. The plan is to stage the fight in the United States either late this year or at the beginning of 2025, aiming to deliver the high-stakes matchups that boxing fans crave. Canelo has indicated he would consider the fight if the financial terms are right.

While some boxing pundits believe Crawford will face significant challenges due to the weight class jump, others argue that his technical skills and ring IQ could enable him to overcome Canelo, even on the Mexican’s home turf.

After his win over Errol Spence Jr., Crawford expressed his ambition to fight Canelo for the undisputed super middleweight title.

Their upcoming fights

Initially, Canelo dismissed the idea, particularly following his victory over Jermell Charlo, stating on TV Azteca’s ‘En Caliente’ that Crawford wasn’t on his radar. However, Canelo has since indicated that if the financial incentives from Saudi Arabia are substantial, he would entertain the challenge.

Currently, Canelo is deliberating on his next opponent for a September bout, following his win against Jaime Munguia. He might have to vacate the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, as he is mandated to fight official challenger William Scull, a fight he is not keen on.

On the other hand, Terence Crawford has his next fight lined up. He will headline a major event on August 3 in Los Angeles, aiming for his fourth title in a different division against Israil Madrimov, the reigning WBA 154-pound champion.

Oleksandr Usyk Names The Heavyweight Who Hit Harder Than Both Tyson Fury And Anthony Joshua

Oleksandr Usyk

Is undisputed heavyweight champion after just six fights in the division and has taken some hard shots to get there.

Formerly four-belt ruler at cruiserweight, the Ukrainian master moved up and found his feet with a stoppage win over Chazz Witherspoon. He moved into a points victory over Derek Chisora – a fight in which the Brit pushed him hard over twelve – before beating Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision to become unified champion.

The ‘AJ’ rematch went largely the same way but ended in a closer split decision. Usyk made his second title defence against 26-year-old Daniel Dubois, whom he stopped in ninth following a low-blow controversy which many felt should have given Dubois the win.

Enter Tyson Fury, who was having great success with uppercuts in the middle rounds before Usyk fought like only he can and scored a knockdown in the ninth. He would win a split decision to add the fourth and final belt to his collection, cementing his name in the heavyweight history books.

Speaking on the 3 Knockdown Rule podcast, the champ said that Fury gave him his toughest test to date, but name-checked Chisora as the hardest puncher.

“Listen, I have respect for Tyson Fury. A fighter, a great man, but my opponent. Very hard man. Very smart … [Hardest fight] I think yes. Punch? I think no. Derek Chisora. Very tough guy. Derek – right hand, left hand, I’d like block… ‘Oh my God! Oh move Alex, this is dangerous.’”

Chisora swarmed the Ukrainian with winging hooks, taking any contact he could get. As the rounds went on, Usyk’s movement tired the Brit and he looked close to being stopped himself towards the end of the fight.

Anthony Joshua Suggested Diversion To Football as linked with £150m ex-EPL club takeover

Anthony Joshua has reportedly been ‘approached over a potential £150 million’ investment opportunity in a former Premier League football club.

It is understood that the British heavyweight, whose company, Sparta Promotions, banked an enormous £41.3m after the 34-year-old went undefeated in 2023.

According to The Sunday Times Rich List, Joshua has a net worth of approximately £150m to £200m, having previously worked as a brand ambassador with the likes of Lucozade, Under Armour, Hugo Boss, Land Rover, and Jaguar.

Joshua has fought once in 2024, claiming a sensational second-round knockout victory against Francis Ngannou in March, banking approximately £39m before any pay-per-view sales

According to The Athletic, the former heavyweight champion’s representatives have now been involved in ‘exploratory talks’ over an investment into former Premier League club Watford.

They claimed that Watford are looking for an injection of cash and add that ‘Joshua was not involved directly in the talks’.

The Hornets are currently owned by Italian businessman Gino Pozzo, who became the club’s majority owner back in 2014.

The north London side finished 15th in the Championship this season, having been relegated to the Championship following the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.

Joshua, who was born in Watford General Hospital and grew up on Watford’s Meriden Estate, has strong links to the club but it appears he has seemingly walked away from the proposals.

‘An investment business which has brought Anthony investment opportunities in the past was approached and held an entry-level discussion about an opportunity with Watford Football Club,’ his representatives told The Athletic.

‘This was an initial chat without even a discussion over due diligence which so often kills these types of deals.’

The outlet also claims that his involvement could be part of a consortium investment, with Watford having recently been searching for new investment.

‘Anthony is not involved and has no plans to be involved. He is fully focused on boxing and has no time at the moment to give to new opportunities outside of his sport. He is a son of Watford and wishes them all the best,’ Joshua’s spokesperson added.

Reports from The Athletic in January had claimed that a US firm had been in talks to purchase a stake in the club.

There is talk that Joshua could return to the ring later this year to face the winner of Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic, but no fight has been confirmed as yet.
